For this project, groups had to build something that functioned as both a car and a boat, using a piece of wood/foam core, wooden/metal rods, ping pong balls/plastic bottle, a motor, solar panel, gears, and 3D printed parts. In our group we initially 3D printed a boat-shaped base but it was too heavy to be a boat so we used a piece of foam core wih ping pong balls instead. We also 3D printed paddles, axle holders, and thin cylinders to fit over the ping pong balls as bigger wheels. We built a wooden solar panel stand and put saran wrap over it during the boat race to make sure the motor didn't get wet.
